All workshops are held at the Providence Tango studios and will run 90 minutes, immediately followed by a 15 minute practica/break.

Milongas: All milongas feature Traditional and Alternative music, live music and performances on some nights.

Practicas: Practicas are guided by multiple teachers who are available to help and feature Alternative & Traditional Tango music. $10 cash at door.

Class Descriptions:

Selective Hearing  with Homer and Cristina -  Sorting out and emphasizing 4 categories of musical expression we most often use in tango including Rhythm, Melody, Transitions, and Lyrics. 

"Super Powers" - Finding keys to enhance tango abilities with Korey and Shorey

We will work with core techniques for body and mind through games, experiments and exercises. No special tango experience required, but the work will challenge and engage dancers of all levels.

Extreme Enrosques with Homer and Cristina 

This advanced class will develop the forward enrosque (cork screw) technique for both the leader and the follower thru a flexible approach of options that allow each student to optimize their unique shape and energy. For the follower this translates to a variety of embellishments from forward pivot movements. For the leader the enrosque is a versatile tool that can add a distinctive musical accent or be used for dynamic turns or an aid to sacada set-up. The fabled ‘impossible-to-lead’ weight-change sacada enrosque for the follower “i.e. dirty-enrosque” and a few other fun applications of enrosque’s will also be approached. 

Musicality: Acceleration and Accent with Korey and Shorey

We explore music resources for dancers, in a general sense of creating dynamic and musical content in the couple, and with specific application of these ideas to some fresh rhythmic potentials of tango music.

The Art of the Wrap with Homer and Cristina

This class presents and refines the leg wrap via turns and ochos including options for the follower's exit. 

Slingshots, Momentum and Opposition with Korey and Shorey

Examine principles behind colgadas, volcadas, boleos and wraps to create some unusual and fun social dance movements. We are particularly interested in finding ways to enjoy this dynamic in the couplel without disturbing our neighbors.
