Ellen Mayer - Founder, Mentor and Teacher
Ellen founded
Providence Tango in the summer of 2000 and made tango fun and accessible to students and enthusiasts
in the greater Providence area for over 12 years. Her excitement and love
of dance inspired a growing, creative tango community.
Ellen's experience dancing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and
traveling to dance around the United States has made her
an elegant and imaginative "tanguera." In 2012 Ellen generously gifted the Providence Tango business to Steven Spurra and the dedicated Providence Tango community. She looks forward to continuing to enjoy dancing without the responsibilities of ownership.

As a DJ, Bill's goal is to play the most inspiring music from all musical genres with heavy emphasis on the traditional Tango repertoire. Having a degree in music theory and composition from Boston University has given Bill a unique technical and theoretical insight into the harmonic and rythmic structure of Tango music which, under the tutelage of Ben Bogart, he has applied to creating programs of contagiously danceable music. Sue Davis - DJ + Friday Introductory Class Teacher + Organizer
S
Sue has been dancing since she was 7 years old and now as an adult enjoys many forms of dance including swing, salsa, ballroom, & cajun. Her greatest dance love is for the Argentine Tango. Sue's goal in teaching is to make her classes both informative and fun. Her goal is to make students comfortable getting out on the floor, not be afraid to make mistakes, but will smile and have a blast in the learning process. She also gets a kick out of finding milongas whenever she travels abroad- so far she has London, Sydney, Copenhagen, Montreal and Buenos Aires on the list. When she's not dancing, Sue works as a counselor in a local middle school. SueDavis@Providencetango.com
